Hi there.
My name is Jack. But who exactly am I?
I am a 7th grade student who has been interested in history for as long as I can remember. I can recall memories where I was playing World War II-centered video games with my brother. I had no idea what these games were about.
But I wanted to learn.
So I did. I started researching wars on my computer one day. And I kept getting more and more interested. Eventually, I was (and probably still am) able to tell anyone the clothing, weapons, current leader, and notable people of any country during World War II. And then I found a Wikipedia page for World War I. It interested me even more. So, naturally, I filled up my brain with all this info about the First World War. So that is a reason I chose this topic; because I was always interested in war. But why World War I? I felt like World War II was an overused topic. I mean, don’t get me wrong, World War II is sure an interesting topic and I want the victims to be remembered, but I wanted to teach people more about a topic they probably know less about.
I have another, major reason that I chose to make this website. World War I gets less attention and it is mostly overshadowed by WWII, albeit for good reason; it was the deadliest war in human history, but does that mean that World War One wasn't important and does it mean that the lives taken mattered less than the victims of World War II? I don't think it does. Especially because if you have British or French ancestors, you likely have someone in your ancestry who has served in the Great War.
And that is why I have chosen to create a website about World War I. Not only does it help people remember the heroes of World War I, but (hopefully) people like you may find it interesting.
